Laws in states of the US are starting to encroach upon and illegalize transition for both minors and young adults, and upon the medical practicioners themselves in order to deprive gender affirming care from trans individuals. According to the Human Rights Campaign "At the height of the legislative session, more than half (50.4%) of all trans youth were living in a state where a gender affirming care ban had been introduced."(HRC,2023). If you are in a state which has passed such laws, it may make transition goals more difficult or even impossible without relocating away from their juristiction. For example, above is a map from the Human Rights Campaign detailing states in which minors below the age of 18 are forbidden from transition.
If you happen to be living in one of these states, all hope is not lost. There are several groups, such as Rainbow Passage, which exist to help move members of the LGBT+ community out of hostile states and circumstances.
